In less than a decade, Johan Storakers has banked over $2.4 million in career tournament earnings and currently stands in 4th place on the Sweden All Time Money List.

Johan was immediately hooked by the strategic and mathematical elements of poker. He first played Seven-Card Stud, then turned his attention to Pot-Limit and No-Limit Hold ‘em, as well as Pot-Limit Omaha. Mentored by well-known Swedish player Gunnar Ostling, he honed his skills in a private members club. By 1997, Johan had built a substantial bankroll and decided to play poker professionally.

Johan’s first notable success was in 2002 when he placed 4th in the World Series of Poker $1.5K Pot-Limit Hold 'em event for $28K. He then finished in 2nd in the 2002 €3K No-Limit Hold ‘em Master Classics of Poker Main Event in Amsterdam, winning over $116K. In 2003, Johan won both the MCOP €3K No-Limit Hold ‘em Main Event for more than $280K, and the €1K Pot-Limit Omaha Helsinki Freezeout. He placed 3rd in the 2005 Ultimate Poker Classic $5K Championship Event for $300K, and just one year later became the Pokermiljonen No-Limit Hold 'em Final champion, for a $150K payday. In 2007, Johan won the Swedish Open Poker Championships SKr 40,000 No-Limit Hold 'em Main Event in Stockholm for almost $200K.

Johan attributes his success to his patience and maintaining reasonable expectations – both of which, he says, help prevent him from going on tilt. On becoming a Full Tilt Poker pro he said: “It feels great to join Full Tilt Poker. My friend [Steve Wong] just signed recently and there are a lot of good players I want to battle it out with on the virtual felt. I really like competition and I am hoping to be among the top 10% of the team in scoring results in the future.”
